On June 2, 2015, representatives of ACTS met with Dr. Philippe Luisier, S.J. of the Pontifical Orientale Institute (PIO) in Rome in efforts to establish future courses and programs for visiting professors and students. The PIO has begun a restructuring which placed Fr. Samir Khalil Samir, Egyptian-born Jesuit, as pro-rector during the transition. Fr. Sunny Thomas Kokkaravalayil was named pro-dean of the canon law faculty and Fr. Edward Farrugia was named pro-dean of Eastern Church Studies. The Oriental institute has 400 students, coming from 48 different countries, including Egypt. The conversation also included discussion of purchasing books for the ACTS library.
