Fr. Arsenius Mikhail completed his PhD in Liturgical Studies and Sacramental Theology at the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Vienna. He went on to hold postdoctoral positions first at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music (New Haven, Connecticut), then at the University of Regensburg (Germany) as a fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He was ordained to the holy priesthood on October 10th, 2023 and serves at St. Cyril of Alexandria Coptic Orthodox Church in Irwindale. He is also the Chair of the Department of Liturgical Department at the St. Athanasius & St. Cyril Theological School in California. His courses focus on the history of Coptic liturgical practice, especially in the medieval period. He is the author of The Presentation of the Lamb (Aschendorff 2020), Guides to the Eucharist in Medieval Egypt (Fordham University Press, 2022), For our Salvation (ACTS Press, 2023), and numerous academic articles on Coptic liturgy and its history. Fr. Arsenius Mikhail was ordained a Full Deacon by the hands of His Eminence Metropolitan Serapion on May 23, 2021. On Sunday October 10, 2021, he was ordained a priest to serve at St. Cyril of Alexandria Coptic Orthodox Church in Irwindale, California. His Grace Bishop Abraham and His Grace Bishop Kyrillos participated in this ordination.
