Youth Spiritual Competition 2009 Information and Curriculum

With great joy and enthusiasm, the Diocese announces the availability of the curriculum for all levels (junior high, high school, and college) participating in this year’s Youth Spiritual Competition on August 29, 2009 at Holy Virgin Mary Coptic Orthodox Church in Los Angeles.

The YSC started in the year 2001 with the start of the new millennium as a way of encouraging our youth to grow in their faith. The competition is used as a fun way of promoting deeper study and understanding in selected areas: Hymns, Bible Study, and Church Studies… a Spiritual Triathlon of sorts.

Team registration forms and additional information will be made available in the coming days. For now, teams may start reviewing the curriculum in anticipation of this wonderful event that brings youth from throughout the Diocese together.

  • Junior High curriculum
  • High School curriculum
  • College curriculum

If you have any questions concerning the competition, please e-mail ysc@lacopts.org.

Update: The curriculum is now live at the links above. If you don’t see the curriculum or the files, please contact us.

Update 6/05/09: The material has been updated to reflect the fact that the Book of Hours ("Agpeya") material is part of the individual competition.

Update 6/08/09: The material for the Book of Hours individual competition is now available.
