Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich Adjourns Meeting in Honor of Pope Shenouda III

LOS ANGELES COUNTY — Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich adjourned the meeting of the Board of Supervisors in memory of Pope Shenouda III of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
 
“As the patriarch of one of the world’s most ancient churches, Pope Shenouda III was a beloved leader for the 10 million Coptic Christians that he served,” said Antonovich. 

“It was an honor to meet with him – he was a compassionate leader and scholar who was well-respected by people of all faiths for his commitment to forging cooperation and understanding between Christianity and all the religions of the world.” 
 
Pope Shenouda III was the 117th Pope of Alexandria and the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria which traces its founding to Saint Mark who first brought Christianity to Egypt.
