On June 16, 2018, His Eminence Metropolitan Serapion accompanied by His Grace Bishop Abraham and His Grace Bishop Kyrillos laid hands on and ordained Deacon Karas for the Christ-loving Diocese of Los Angeles to serve at St. Maurice Coptic Orthodox Church in Pomona, California. On May 3, 2021, His Eminence Metropolitan Serapion elevated Deacon Karas to the rank of Archdeacon.
